dandy interesting word indeed :P A dandy (also known as a beau or gallant) is a man who places particular importance upon physical appearance, refined language, and leisurely hobbies, pursued with the appearance of nonchalance in a cult of Self. Historically, especially in late 18th- and early 19th-century Britain, a dandy, who was self-made, often strove to imitate an aristocratic lifestyle despite coming from a middle-class background. The female counterpart is a quaintrelle. In the 12th century, cointerrels (male) and cointrelles (female) emerged, based upon coint, indicating a person of beautiful dress and refined speech. By the 18th century, coint became quaint, indicating elegant speech and beauty. Middle English dictionaries note quaintrelle as a beautifully dressed woman (or overly dressed), but do not include the favorable personality elements of grace and charm. The notion of a quaintrelle sharing the major philosophical components of refinement with dandies is a modern development, one which returns quaintrelles to their historic roots. Female dandies did overlap with male dandies for a brief period during the early 19th century when dandy had a derisive definition of "fop" or "over-the-top fellow"; the female equivalents were dandyess or dandizette. Charles Dickens, in All the Year Around (1869) comments, "The dandies and dandizettes of 1819-1820 must have been a strange race. Dandizette was a term applied to feminine devotees to dress and their absurdities were fully equal to those of the dandy." In 1819, the novel Charms of Dandyism was published "by Olivia Moreland, chief of the female dandies"; although probably written by Thomas Ashe, "Olivia Moreland" may have existed, as Ashe did write several novels about living persons. Throughout the novel, dandyism is associated with "living in style". Later, as the word dandy evolved to denote refinement, it became applied solely to men. Popular Culture and Performance in the Victorian City (2003) notes this evolution in the latter 19th century: "...or dandizette, although the term was increasingly reserved for men." I think the oldest apart from me is 17 so it's not that bad, but it's still pretty awkward. xD And it's a music course haha. :P

Bex- I'm glad to hear you have finally managed to get into a course, hope it goes well :] Sucks about the age thing, but ah well, at least it's something to keep you busy! I've just been doing the usual - talking to my guy in California and just chillin', nothing too exciting even though talking to my dude is exciting for me <3 Hopefully gonna be starting some voluntary work in an office, doing some admin work so I can get some more skills for an actual paid job in that type of work.

Just go out there and chat with some chicks and if there is someone you really like and if you like them enough then you will make the effort to talk to them and then act on it, just ask them if they wanna go for coffee or something :]

Haha yeah just try and approach the guy you like and as I said to Matt, ask him if he wants to just have a chat over a drink, coffee or whatever, get to know each other, doesn't hurt to try, cuz ya never know! ;) I'm not good myself at approaching that guy that I'm really into, I suck at it totally! Just get so nervous and shy and keep thinking I'm gonna screw it up xD I always prefer the guy making the first move, I think that's how it should be :)

yeah thanks, Agnes :D i had problems with making the first approach with guys before but i don't have that nowadays i just need to look at a guy with my eyes to get him interested in me :) well yeah there is actually one really cute guy living in the same apartment building as i do with my granny and her husband :D and he lives in the apartment just over my grannys ;P I met him in the elevator today ;D hehe <3 and his dad is actually a quite famous swedish movie actor/theatre actor too(Just here in sweden thou not abroad :) ) :D and well lets just say that i am cautious getting into a new relationship because i dont wanna get hurt again :( x

Hey Agnes, been ages since I heard from you :O Hope your well :) I hope I get a paid job soon too, keeping up with bills and stuff is getting far too difficult, but I am also sorting out voluntarily work for the moment.. and I guess that'll get me out more and yeah :P

^Any experience is good. Anyway I'm about to watch Shameless :] Other than that I'm just pissed off really at the lack of time I seem to have. I don't seem to be able to get everything done I want. As for girls I'm chatting to a few locals ones online for a start, but nobody has stood out yet.

^ yeah i feel u on that Matt .. there's never enough time to do all the things u want :) well yeah i am chatting with guys to both local and not local :) and i just need to go out really and then guys r flirting with me .. just need to look at them .. and they flirt with me easy and annoying sometimes :) well naah nothing has really stood out for me either really :) in wanna be really sure and knowing that the person i like would not hurt me and like me for who i am and not lying to me either.. so better being single at the moment anyway than being heartbroken :) x

I alweays have too much time D: I have an interview tomorrow for a course that starts in September that I'd really like :) Means I'd get to move away from here and they have really good uni links. xD
