I need help. . .what should I do? Nov 16 2010, 08:00 AM
My mate has been really unstable for a year, no jokes here, he just can't get back on track. He used to just fly off the handle really quick and get so angry that it wasn't safe to be around him, but now he's so depressed. I've tried talking to him about it but he won't open up to me and now he's cutting himself deeply, not minor cuts. He said that it helps him and that doing it reminds him that he's still there and if he doesn't he just breaks down, no-one knows how to help him. His parents are clueless and he doesn't want us to tell them, I know I have to and he says that if it gets any worse he will, but the truth is he won't tell them ever. I feel like I have to tell his parents but I don't want to ruin our friendship. My other mates just say that it doesn't matter and that it's a phase but they haven't seen the cuts, they're deep and nasty and he has to hide them from everyone, he cuts his neck and wrists and chest and stomach and feet, he can't stop and I'm worried if he doesn't get help he'll kill himself. . .what should I do??

Tell his parents as he'll be glad you helped him in the end. and be there for him and let him know your always there. give him reasons why hes a good person and why he exists and try to suggest alternatives to cutting

hmmm, tell his parents but dont tell them that you told them? and yea like above^ at the moment he might not realise how much help you mean to him but at the end he will.

Don't ever,ever,ever tell his parents he will hate you for life... just be there for him just give him a big hug,talk to him make him feel alive just tell him that your always there for him I feel the same way as he does and I know what it will help ...
