Emo/Scene Label or Not? Jan 14 2011, 09:17 AM
In my opinion scene and Emo isn't a label, but some people make it seem that way. Saying I am an Emo or Scene doesn't tell anything special about my personality or fashion. other than that I listen to a type of music and am a part of a sub-culture right? While a label would tell you pretty much about a person just by the name of the label. example: Gamer/player/party-freak or something. I didn't know where to put this topic so i just randomly pressed fashion xD

I the Emo brands :D The labels on the clothes fucking kill me tho -.-' I hate when peeps think: Emo's have to have a special hair to be emo, emos have to cut they're veins, emo's have to dress diffrently, emos do that...It's pissing me right off -.-'

I agree the statement right above what i am saying (see if that confused you) xD lol I also agree I mean if I sit there and say that I am emo at school, I'd have 6 or 7 kids checking my wrist :/ hell the teachers would probably walk me down to the counslers

yeah, it's not like that here, just the kids, grown-ups never ever heard of the term emo here and im 1 emo out of 7000 people :P it's like the term "emo" is fading, like it's origin is buried behind all the lies and proclaims. The origin of emo had nothing to do with anything other than pure music filled with passion and emotion, so how come it has gone this far? should we make off a day were all who want's protest about these stereotypes or are we just gonna watch our sub-culture grow out of control, i've seen 1000 of 12-14 year old kids who "wants" to be emo for some reason and then start cutting, playing depressed etc. and then they actually become depressed and cutters. And that strengthens the stereotypes and it destroy our reputation. i don't say they're not allowed to be a part of our society-group; i've been one of them myself, this might shock you but i was an emo hater D; sorry guys, but i changed :D

Dude, at my school, if you don't have a label, your a nobody D: and I got f***ing sick and tired of being a nobody... So when people ask "are you emo??" I'm like, f*** yes I'm emo! Lol. But I understand your viewpoint and everything

well, saying yes when people ask you if you are emo isn't labeling you just approve that you are a part of that sub-culture. If it had been a label you had been bound to rules to be allowed to label yourself as emo. do you understand what i'm trying to say? :P

As discussed in the What is Emo section is it a very confusing term nowadays. Subcultures always evolve, but emo has got out of control. It's good for sites like this as I like more members of course joining my site! However, this site has never encouraged a lot of the negative aspects that have become associated with the 'emo scene'. The sad thing is when you mention 'emo' to a lot of people music isn't the first thing that comes to mind... Finally I'm going on here, but as I have said many times it doesn't make much sense saying "I am an emo"; instead say "I'm into the emo scene"

I am just myself and then meeh fuck what other people says about u the most r just jealous thou and well here in Scandinavia the most people r really open to emo's and goths and so on <3 ! :O! <3 x

Ikr, I'm the only emo in my school -.-' 1 emo and a 109 other fucked up kids :> I get sick of peeps asking me: Your emo? o.o On facebook or crap like that. I lost all my bffls cos' I became emo =/ So when people ask I reply: Dont Worry, If I Promise Not To Kill You, Will You Give Me A Hug? ;>

Hell majority of my friends are emo, and not that its bad but Idk I just kind of wish it were just me, lol and then I will be talking to my friend Morgan around a group of scene kids and they would all stare at me like I'm some kind of freak xD
