The definition of the real emo is something that is in my opinion different from person to person what u think of that :). I don't think that there r certain people that r the "real" emo's, the definition of emo is someone that is one in some way with their emotions, one of the features that r the most important. Well just be who u wanna be in this emo style/life :) and don't care what other people think is right or wrong.

Sorry, but did you just right that real emos all have emotional problems? Last time i checked real emos or whatever you wanna call it don't have to have emotional problems, it just happens that most have. An example, a person is emo and has emotional problems, somehow this person solves them and now this person is happy. From your point of view you think this person that now is happy is not emo anymore? From what you just wrote you're being just like those people who say to emos - "why wont you just go cut your self" or "cheer up emo kid" or even "Oh, you have so much problems, pour you" or, my personal favorite "If you're emo you must have a depression" It happens that I do have a depression, and that i have struggled with self harm in the past, but i'm not emo because of that. If I one day get over my depression I suddenly am a poser?

Everyone has emotional problems, emo or not. And besides, who cares about whether someone fits every single "convention" of emo, shouldn't their personality be more important? If people come onto a site like this, they must have things in common, so let's concentrate on those things and not hate over picky things :)

i think the definiton of emo is someone who can freely express their emotions and feelings....now at my school theres alot of preppy girls who try to be emo by dressing similar to how a emo person would dress because they think its cool....in my opinon thats someone trying to be a poser....if you like to express you emotions an feelings an not care what others think of you then your a true emo....but if you just dress like one to fit in an lie by saying "oh i cut myself everynight" (even tho most emos dont cut...just a stereotype) then you shouldnt be considered a emo

The expression "emo" includes so many different things. We all see it different. To me "emo" is just a style. For someone this is more about self-harm and depression. For me this is the "posers". Mostly 'cause I know 'bout too many peoples who started harming their self trying to be emo. What a real emokid is depends on the person who sees it, we all see it different. *btw, sorry for my crappy English. Once again

Who says any of us are like that? The "Oh, I cut myself-whinewhinewhine?" That's a little odd to say and might I say a tad rude. I am a bit offended here. Sounds to me you are generalizing based on what you see on your home turf. You don't know me, and I don't know you. If someone is happy but they identify as emo doesn't mean they are or not emo. A lot of other *genres* or *stereotypes* also freely express their emotions, not just emos. Punks, preps, everybody. That's human nature to share our thoughts. If not, we wouldn't have developed a complex frontal lobe that enables us to write and speak to each other and share ideas. However, as other's have said, 'emo' is different to everybody. And not everybody here identifies as such, they are merely here because of the music or the style and such. Others are scene kids. There aren't many but yes, some of us aren't 'emo.' I don't like to be identified as such, but it is easier to say I am. I try to think of myself as unique; I just happen to fit into a sociological subgroup that dresses in simliar ways and have similar tastes as I do. I subconsiously conformed to an 'outgroup' ever since I was a kid. Sorry if I sound harsh and angry, but to say 'where are the REAL emos?' is fighting words. You mentioned people on this site, not just people where you live so I took it personally. These are just my thoughts and I realize I just ranted so I hope I didn't offend you.

What does it matter to be honest. No offence, everyone has a different idea of what emo is and thats okay in this world too many people are all the same trying to be stereotyped into a certain group to fit in. Why not just accept everyone even if they are not your definition of emo. Not all emo's have problems but i can understand why you said that, may things are associated with emo's which are not true i think that we all should just accept everyone single person on this sight as who they are and their interpretation of emo and like them for their personality and who they are and not what they look like.

Okay, you're entited to your opinion, obviously, but the 'real emos'?? Emo isnt people with emotional problems. Its the style, the music, and what people are. People are emo because they like the look, and they like the music.

Here, so I don't accidentally put words in your mouth, a quote from you: "if your really emo then you wouldnt care what plp think or say about you" It doesn't matter what genre or class of people you fit in, EVERYONE (regardless if they say or not) cares what other people think or say about them, even if it is miniscule. But I'm not going to get into all that because frankly I don't have enough time or patience to type out all that sociological crap. You also said something about hating posers. Everyone hates posers. Also, I agree with everything RiRi-rawwwrr said. :D

I like Riri's comments :3 Is there really some real and some fake emos? It's easy to look at people and think "wow, what a poser" but because of the fact that everyone has their own idea of what emo is the ones you see as posers might be the "real" emos to others, and you're the poser. Once again; I don't consider myself as an emo, but others do. Because of my style or my music. This is a great example. I dress the way I do, and listens to what I want without thinking over it. I also have problems with both depressions and self-harm, and solve these with writing poems and music and shooting pictures. But if people look as me as an emokid, I hope it's not these things that make them see me this way. I'm just a normal kid with normal problems, who seems to fit better in with the alternatives, emos and scenes then the others.

Hello? Right here. I'm one. I'm not a rich b*tch. I always am writing. I truly believe I am emotionally unstable. If I gave you a list of my problems, it'd be 10 miles long. We're still out there, and there's a lot more on this site than you think.
