What Makes A Good Website? May 05 2011, 08:59 PM
I was just wondering what you thought because I'm looking into how to create my own website. Obviously it won't be one to rival this one. I just want to practice html and it'll give me something to do in my free time. It'll probably be a diverse site if I go through with it... Anyways, your thoughts?

A clean and slick design, easy to navigate, and not to bright colours. That's my opinion atleast.

Tbh the best way to learn is from a good web design book. Check out Amazon as they have loads of them!

I agree with the first post..( and i don't doubt that Matt's advice is relevant)- make sure that you also have good grammar on the site, and ensure that the site is not too full of stuff,( too extravagant) in order to accommodate those who don't have a modem or a good connection. :)

Avoid using Flash! Develop the site using xHTML and CSS. As I said just find a decent book.

One that is easy to navigate, easy to read and helpful without making you jump through hoops to get the information.
