Another turning point a fork stuck in the road time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go so make the best of this test and dont ask why its not a question but a lesson learned in time... Good Riddance(Time of your Life), by Green Day

Depression? :/ May 11 2011, 11:16 AM
I took a test recently on a depression support site. If the score at the end was higher than 9, then it's likely you're depressed. I got a score of 23. :/ I also did another one based for kids from 12-18, and got 46/100 on the scale of well being. Also, I seem to have most of the symptoms detailed in Atypical Depression. I'm quite worried about this, and there isn't really any one in my day to day life I would trust to tell. Is there any advice any one could give me at all? Because right now I'm quite stressed and worried about this. Thanks guys. :/ Nemo xo

I'm not sure how I can help, but if you wouldn't mind sending me the link to the website, as I would like to find out about myself. Recently lots of girls at my school have begun commenting on my emotion, saying that I'm always depressed or have no emotion :(

I would suggest going to your doctor everything is kept private and they can help you not neccessarily with pills. I suffer with depression so if you ever need a chat just holla at me hope your okay :]

First thing - internet self-test quizzes can be very unreliable, so be vary wary to make a self-diagnosis on the basis of this. The fact that you describe yourself as having many symptoms of depression is, tbh, what I'd be concentrating on, so long as the description you have of depression is from a reliable source. If this is the case, you should see a doctor, like RiRi said. Everything will be kept confidential, but how they deal with it depends on where you live. I only know how it works in Norfolk, but I can assure you that they won't force you to take any type of treatment you don't want (though the treatment offered will depend on your local health system). I've both studied (for psychology) and am about to undergo CBT, so if you get offered that, I can talk you through how it works, and I've also studied other methods if you want advice on what treatment to take (though I can't talk about how they work from experience). You don't have to do any of this, but if you're really feeling that bad, I would recommend it :)

Were you as worried before you took the test? I mean, You would of have to of been concerned to take it in the first place, ofcourse. But don't let the results make you more worried than you already where, kids our age have enough to worry about without worrying about how worried we are. :o I'm not trying to downplay mental illness, and it's admirable you're looking out for yourself like that, but really these days "profesionals" and medication etc often make the situation worse, as everyone's mind works differently, not like fixing a broken leg. :P Its hard to discover the root of depression for people our age, especially since usually our age is the main thing. XD But good luck with everything, and try not to worry about anything web based. :P

I got over 9 on the test and aren't worried really. If I took it another day I might get a lot less like most people would..

Go to your doc Nemo these tests can be seen many different ways. They will be very welcoming and understanding. (if there not you could stalk them then they would pay attention Tee hee) Theres nothing wrong with being depressed except the awfullness of the illness itself so dont let anyone sway your opinion just go with your heart, you know whats best for you even though sometimes it seems like maybe you dont you do.
