Emo Scene Community

Well, this is what I've been thought and it seems reliable. EMO is not about cutting yourself, playing depressed, hating your parents, drop out of school, or be a lazy dumbfuck. For me it's all about expression, being the person you want to be and not the person others want you to become. The early emo bands hated the term "emo". The vocalist of Rites Of Spring said the term was stupid, if you called them emo back then you'd get a punch in the face. Emo (emotive-hardcore/violence) was used as a term for the music genre to mock them and call them "overemotional" not all punks did, but Old School punkers hated every new coming genre of punk, basically an emo is a punk, just not that aggressive and hatred against society. But yeah not to make a new stereotype, it depends on the person. And for all you "emo is a label" people, it's really not, it becomes a label as long as you gives it the power to be a label, it's nothing but a sub-culture made up by a music genre. I found that alot of emos are understanding and empathic. That's a good ability. What i think a problem is, is that a bunch of little kids listening to black veil brides thinks they are so emo just because they listen to that one band and only talks about andy six, they never talk about the bands music, just andy, It's annoying, they're not even emo, they are metalcore/post-hardcore. But well, it could be acceptable, emo music has turned so much away from it's roots and become so loose, mostly the term "emo music" is used for bands which has a mayority of fans that belong to the emo subculture. I know this discussion may have been before but i just wanted to bring that up..... and btw, Bring Me The Horizon, Escape The Fate, BFMV, BVB etc.... is NOT SCREAMO, learn the genres before throwing them around, Screamo is a genre not a term used to descirbe screaming bands. I've studied this alot, and know alot about this subject so trying to argue with me will be like trying to save a fish from drowning
