I know what you mean, I've become pretty good at fighting the tears back, especially around others... you can do a number of things to help, some already stated... 1. like monkey said comfort yourself 2. let the tears come, sometimes people get so overwhelmed with life that they need a good cry to get all the emotion out, its healthy and certainly doesnt make you weak 3. distract your mind, you might not know why your crying but getting your mind away from the raw emotion is always good 4. go for a walk/jog... running has the same endorphin release as cutting 5. talk to somebody, along with crying it out, is the only way to truly get past bad feelings, I'm here if you'd like to talk

As I've said before, comfort yourself. I used to be in that stage where I would cry about the littlest things. It shows how really sensitive people can be. There's many method's of comforting yourself I find the most affective method is taking a really fluffy pillow & your fav stuffed animal and rock yourself back & forth. I know it sounds silly but it worked for me, after 2-3 days I became alright, yes I had my moments but I didn't curl up & cry myself to sleep. Try to watch more comedy TV, I have to say, it helps c[; Everyone is here to support you & help you. If you ever want to talk, we're very good listeners ^-^

Err, I have to say in personal opinion. Yush, maybe medication helps. But it strips you. It strips you from your personality, your problems, your worries, everything that made you, you. I've never been on medication before, so I have no idea. But I think medication/anti-depressants are just there to think your okay. That your 'normal'. Most people I know on anti-depressants have been depressed when on anti-depressants which is ridiculous I know. But maybe they were just so deep in depression nothing can work to help them. Just try lifting your spirits. GO PARTY! Go shopping, do things that you love [: Make a list of everything you want to do in your life & plan on when or how your going to do them. Are you going to do them depressed? NO! Your gonna do them with a crazy, random, happy attitude!:D

I'd have to agree with Monkey about the drugs, in most cases... I know for me they actually help me, because they tend to make me focus more on the now... My friend Adam (who gave me one of his pills to experiment, yes I know its not safe) get's almost lifeless whenever he's on pills My friend Theressa needs them to keep her from getting furious and lashing out at everybody and everything, but now she's pregnat and can't take them... I hope some of these stories help you to decide whether or not you truly need to be on medication or not... remember Therepy works just as well

From personal experience counselling and talking things through helps a lot more than medication. A while ago when I went through some really bad times I got put on anti depressants and they really did make me emotionally dead. Sure the depression went but so did the ability to feel anything else, and they can be difficult to get off of. Side effects when withdrawing from it were muscle spasms and massive headaches, but for some pelple I know it's worked for. An idea that helped me immensely was using positive affirmations every morning, it felt very odd at first but it gets easier with time. Also watching comedies! I hope any of this helps x
