Emo Scene in 2011... Nov 14 2011, 02:30 PM
I certainly think it's more accepted by society now. Do you agree? Some people think it has declined a bit recently, which maybe true, but judging by the gig I went to last night I disagree! Long live EMO hey!!!?

Definately. Emo will be here forever. No doubt about that. It is kind of accepted now over here in the US. It's amazing how people are accepting emo more.

I agree that the emo scene won't die (at least not any time soon). It's a very passionate scene that many people from different backgrounds can relate to.It may however evolve for better or for worse depending on how the followers and the bands in the scene portray themselves and/ or are affected by its acceptance by the general society...

It's definitely more accepted. In fact I'm willing to say it's made an impact on what's popular now as far as fashion goes, at least that's what I've seen in my town (but of course I live in the middle of no where...)

I went from a town where it was EXTREMELY accepted, to a town where it really isn't... even the Emo and Scene kids listen to pop music, it's kind of disapointing

People misunerstand what Emo really is and where it came from xD They just think that Emos and Scenes are hot. That's why we're more accepted :3

^^^^ agreed. It sucks when the ones who think they're emo listen to pop music and try to dress like us. Tsk tsk :/ they need a history lesson

^omg. This girl at my school told me that she used to be Emo last year, but she stopped cutting so she's not an Emo anymore. It hurts when people think Emo automatically means 'an emotional person who cuts'.

considering i never used to cut myself but still came home bleeding; due to the mass of fucking hatters. I feel the number of people accepting us is on the rise and my scars are fading away. Though I feel this is something we have always wonted; to me it is a letdown as more people are casually applying the name with little thought or understand of the meaning. I myself like to stand out in a crowd and I’m finding this more difficult to do; my outfits at the minute consist of black skinny’s black bra shoes and face paint (im fucking freezing). What will I have to do next??? Xxxe o In Leicester one day every ones a chav the next their all gothes ect i mean the pther day 3 chavs opened a punk/emo shop but do i go in????

Sorry to break the mold, but I think "emo" is dying, or close to dead. Barely any "emo's" exist at my school... and I mean real emo's, not those poser bitches. I remember middle school where it was EVERYWHERE... now it seems rather absent. Honestly, the only two people at my school that are true "emo's" are myself, and a new female acquaintance of mine... and that's it, of a school of 3,700 kids, there is only 2. Don't get me wrong, it really depends on where you live I guess(just like how California STILL has it's share of '60s hippies) but from my personal experience, it is a dying trend.

It becomes commercial, selfish and fashionable... "emo" is often used to describe the opposite of what it was once upon a time when no one would call me fake.. cause I still believe in that little rebellious scene screaming against all that is evil in society. Emotional Hardcore's alive!
