Women's self esteem issues Dec 06 2011, 02:58 PM
Okay, this mainly goes out to guys, but women, feel free to comment: Has anyone else noticed the extreme amount of girls that are incredibly hard on themselves, when they actually have NO reason to be? I mean, Put it this way, over the past 5 months I've met two VERY attractive girls, that are VERY much like me... normally this would mean dating material xD BUT, both have seemed to be plagued by terrible self esteem, for absolutely NO reason(not that I can see at least). Like if they weren't so hard on themselves, I would date either of them, I mean it really becomes the deciding factor for me. It is the worlds biggest pain in the ass when I try to compliment a girl, and all she does is try to find ways to prove me wrong. That is a huge turn off for me, and makes flirting absolutely impossible(seeing as flirting is all about confidence), and leads to me not being able to get anywhere close to a relationship. Eventually us guys just wanna stop complimenting you(and we will) if all you do is disagree. Stop being so hard on yourselves, and accept the damn compliment. Anyone experience anything similar? Feedback would be lovely (:

There are quite a few people on here like that it seems. Don't overdo the compliments though! I have met girls with self esteem issues and some have improved significantly, but others have just well stayed the same...

I hateee when girls have that, like they are funny, sweet, smart, beautiful, then like, ahh im fat, im ugly, im stupid, thats not true, your just telling me what you want me to hear. Like no im not? Its the truth, but they won't just take the compliment, they think they are ugly or unattractive, when nothing is wrong..I'm not the biggest flirt, and my self esteem is shit, but i wont reject a compliment especially when a girl i like says it to me, cause her opinion is the only one that matters.

I think alot of girls do it because they have had alot of shit going on. Like if they have broke up with a guy/girl that they really like it sets them back (speaking from person experience) also it doesn't help when theres all these people out there saying shit about the way people dress,(i get that alot) so i think its hard for them to accept a nice comment, because they are so use to bad ones. But i personally overcame this and now i know how to accept a complement, it just takes time for us girls to adjust and get use to it. Some day they will realise that you were right :)

^ you're statement holds some truth. Due to some girls' experiences they can't accept good compliments. Others, however, think they aren't pretty cause they've never had a bf, when in fact it's their low self esteem that turned off the bf in the first place O.o. Ironic eh? However, we must keep supporting the girls, (especially those on here) who need that extra reminder that they're awesome! Nevertheless, as Matt said, we shouldn't overdo the compliments.
