A chav in the U.K is the equivalent of a 'thug' or a 'gangster' in America... Or, at least, that's how I see it :D From urbandictionary.com: Oh the simple Chav, what a constant source of amusement you are! Chavs are the dregs of human existence. They live merely to piss everyone else off with their love of crap clothing and manky gold jewelry. They have taken the wearing of tracksuits and baseball caps to a new level of pikieness. Chav girls (or chavettes) commonly sport the Croydon Facelift (hair pulled back in a bun so tight that it pulls their faces tight) with at least 6 dangly faux-gold earings in each ear. Also often seen pushing a pram round shopping centers while chain-smoking and wearing fake burberry or nasty velour tracksuits. A favourite accessory is a hideous gold articulated clown dangling from a thick gold chain around their pimply acne scarred necks. Male chavs hang around in gangs spitting alot and trying to start fights with small children or anyone else that they could easily overpower (which really is just small children!). Once they are of driving age they obtain a clapped out old Nova or Metro and then spend a fortune (no one knows where this money comes from, it is one of the many mysteries of the chav) "maxing it up" with big wheels, sound systems and a huge "wanker pipe" exhaust. Chavs can be seen in any copy of Max Power magazine proudly displaying their efforts at automotive design - tossers !!!

The term chav can be used quite widely tbh, some can be dickheads, some can be nice people :D My friends are very varied so I'd never dislike someone just because they're labelled chav, or anything for that matter. We're a general healthy mix :D Also chavs and gangsters arent the same in any way. gangsters wear suits :D mmmm

I live in a town where everyone there is a chav. They are vile creatures, swearing all the time an example of chav language is: wot u lukkin' at yer fukkin' dik-ed al bang yer out innit. They wear tracksuits tucked into socks, nike or rebok trainers, they always seem to wear a baseball cap and a hoodie (with the hood up) in all conditions, even on hot hot hot summer days. Actually, I'm assuming the person who started this topic is in the US, so probably has the tv show ''Shameless'', *that* is pretty much a chav. I've also noticed that chavs only ever seem to have staffie dogs, you never see a chav with a jack russell or a poodle do you? lol Arg words cannot describe how much chavs fill me with hatred >.>

i think haters are chavs. they just go around hating on people cuz they have nothing better todo and they hate themselfs. plus most r sluts so... ya idk the exact deffinition, but i think there just haters or thugs

to be honest it;s just the few that give chavs such a bad rep towards us. most are actually ok with people different to them or just not bothered by it at all and leave you to it. It is just the few that do all the work. and you could say we are just as bad as them cause look at what we say...it's as downgrading as what they say about people who are different XD
