Hi there, So I've been trying to find some good hair dyes, I know manic panic is good but does anyone else have some ideas on which brands I should use. Thanks (:

Yup, I agree with Matt. I've been dying my hair with Live for about four years now and it's never given me any trouble and the results are great. What colour are you thinking? :3

Depending on how blue you want it, you're probably gonna need to bleach it first, and for that I'd recommend Live Colour XXL Absolute Platinum 00A. I use it for my blonde section at the front of my hair, it's the best to use if you're bleaching for the first time. Also, if you are bleaching to white, as soon as the hair shows any sign of breaking, STOP and leave it for a few weeks, don't bleach it again or put any other dye on it, what ever colour your hair is will be less embarrassing than your hair falling out. And also, I've heard stories of blue kool aid dying going very wrong or your hair turning a muddy green colour after a while, so I'd be cautious about it. o.o

Oh thanks! lol cause I was planing on bleaching it but i wasnt sure on what kind to bleach it lol how long do you leave the bleach in? & haha yeah I dont want my hair to fall out >.< o.o wow! thanks fo rthe heads up, I've never heard of trying kool aid but it seems like it be a fun experiment :p lol, I might try it haha Thanks (:

I find that manic panic fades quite fast... I know Live XXL doesn't, but I've only seen a really dark blue-black shade in their range. Depending on the shade of blue you're looking for, Directions might be better. They fade at a reasonable rate and they've got a few different blues. I personally like their lagoon blue :3 Also, please listen to Nemo about the bleach. I know all too well how damagin bleach can be. My hair was falling out at one point. And it's only stopped now. It's still really damaged though. Please be careful :) How long you leave the bleach in depends on how many shades lighter than the current colour of your hair you want it to be, which usually takes more than one bleaching. It usually tells you on the box. At any rate, I'd suggest not leaving it in for more than an hour. There's a high risk of it over-processing then. At that point, it won't really be lightening your hair much more and will just be damaging it.

With the Live Platinum dye you need to leave it in for 45 minutes, any more might cause damage. Then for every time you dye it again leave it in for half an hour. You'll have to dye it multiple times, dying mine from black to white took a good eight dyes. Leaving it in for longer won't make any difference to the colour result but it might start to break the hair. And yes avoid kool aid at all costs D:

I used Jerome Russell bleach and from black it went yellow ='] La Riche Directions has a wide range of bright colours, use that a couple of times in a row and it will be long lasting and it doesnt damage ^_^ =]

I don't really know about hair bleach because I just bought the cheapest one at walmart, but for the actual dye Fudge brand is good. I used it once and it lasted a while.

I use something called N'rage and some of it's colors work really well but others are not as good. But I use their pink and it's amazing. The color lasts really long and the dye actually smells like bubble gum! It's worth a try, but I've head the blues aren't as good.

You definitely need to bleach with Directions - I used their Midnight Blue on unbleached mid-brown hair, it just made my hair go black and faded within a week :/

i lovee dying my hair:3 i get mine from la directions online which works beutifully. i usually mix my conditioner with the dye while im showering sometimes too to keep it up. and no it does not kill my hair, ive been doing it for a long time and its as healthy as before i started dying it xD
