I've always wanted to skateboard but my parents won't let me because they think that skateboards are death traps. My mum let my older sister get a skateboard. I've asked her about it but she just said that it was different with her. How do I convince them to let me?

Same here... My lil bro gets everything he wants, another playstation, a pocketknife etc. but I have to work to get what I want. No matter what I say, they just won't let me. I even offered to pay for it out of my new guitar fund (I'm saving up for a jaxville zeus). If my brother was even into anything other than games and collecting knives I bet he'd get a skateboard if he asked for it

My parents used to be like that with me... but now if I want something, I'll just buy it, and although they can argue with me or moan at me, they can't stop me xD But seriously, ask them them why they felt that your older sister could have a skateboard but you couldn't - "it was different" is not an excuse! If you know the real reason why they won't let you have a skateboard, you can convince them that it's not true :)

I asked but they still keep saying that it was different -.- really pissing me off now... They even told me about this kid who died through a skateboard but who in their right mind would go down a hill on the wrong side of a busy road, laying down? I told them that but the answer was still no..

'it was diffrent ' is a bad excuse for your parents saying they don't want you to have one ... best thing you can do is keep gentely and politly reminding them you would like one and prove to them you can be sensible etc enough to earn one or just ask to borrow your siblings ...

Lol her skateboard turned to chipboard a long time ago... Found out that someone gave my sister the board. I told them about the skatepark being built in town. Now they say it's not just dangerous but also a bad influence... seriously?
