Hi to everyone reading this, As someof you may be aware there is a problem many students and young people are facing across the world, this problem is known to be growing and yet the subject is still taboo. You may have already guessed that I am talking about the subject of self-harm. This is a problem around 1 in 10 young people participate in, out of these over 90% will repeat their behaviour within two years and around 1 in 7 will go on to cause serious injury and even death. As the subject is so sensitive and wide reaching I am writing to yourself, college students, NUS activists and people from across the UK to help me complete research on the subject. This research is designed to find out just what people think and know about self-harm. All answers are anonymous and will remain confidential however, if you wish to receive a copy of the results of this research there is an option to leave your email address at the end. Anyone filling out this survey under the age of 16 is required to ask for parental consent; it will be considered that all those filling in the survey under the age of 16 have acquired the appropriate consent before commencing. Please take your time if you choose to fill in the survey and take it seriously as false results will corrupt any data created.
