My hands grow cold from grasping at the wind, Imagining to feel the lines of your warm palm. I’m swallowing remorse, and trying to breathe normal again. Memories that stick to my chest like a congestion, Didn’t know such short moments could be cherished and replayed over and over, Like a favorite song or a favorite movie. My heartbeat creaks and thumps, like a broken melody as it dismay. I’m not perfect, and you aren’t either. But what startles my heart feels like you belong there, And at first it seemed so right, like the notes of a guitar played into symphony. Though you tell me it was wrong, what else can I expect? My heart trembles with a bad habit, and an old breakage. I put a smile on my face when you’re here, And suddenly the aching dies out into a lonely chorus. Daydreaming you were here, holding me tight, making me feel that warmness and comfortableness. Stop my heart from jolting, and just let it rest. But nothing seems right, and I don’t know any better. Wishing my heart had another chance to bond with yours again. And let love naturally tie things together like we’re both string instruments. Driving out the depressing days, and smiling to wipe my truth away. Spitting out stubborn lies that I’m okay, just to make it seem like I can take it. This truth is pathetic, and my feelings are raw, I’m left with a blank stare, and I can’t forget what I wish I could.
