shampoo for dyed hair Jul 02 2013, 03:44 PM
Finally temporarily dying my hair this Friday and it should stay in for about a month or so but i've no idea what shampoo's will make it last longer and not fade the colours out fast as i've heard some shampoo's do so which ones will help and which should i avoid to help prevent fade?

For god's sake avoid Head & Shoulders like the plague - strips hair colour out more effectively than some actual dye strippers! On the other hand, anyone who's trying to get hair dye out should try Head & Shoulders ;) Personally, I'm using Tresemme Colour Fade Protect, which normally works well but this time hasn't been quite as effective, perhaps because I'm using a different dye brand? When I dyed my hair red a few years ago, I used the John Frieda stuff especially for red hair, and that worked a treat, might also work for shades close to red? I'm intending to try the Aussie stuff next. I do use their Colour 3 minute treatment about once a week and that does help (as well as making your hair silky smooth!) but I don't know if the shampoo works just yet :P

It may sound really weird but, baby shampoo! 'Cause its made for babies it's not as harsh and doesn't fade colour as much, I used it when I had coloured hair! :)
