trouble speaking ;s Jul 20 2013, 05:12 AM
Ive had a problem for a few years now where i just cant seem to talk properly or express myself or even explain what im trying to say without messing up. i guess its a confidence issue because im fine at home and around certain freinds, but its mainly around certain people and older work colleagues. maybe it could be that i speak to myself in my head an awful lot (lol) and im so used to my innervoice that i cant translate it to my outervioice ;/ its nothing overly major but has anyone else had these speech problems? and if so it would be interested in how you've overcome it.

I had a big problem speaking in class and because I had a speech problem teachers would tend to ask me more questions (being mean or trying to help me overcome it, I'm not sure) but I blamed it on my low self esteem as I used to get made fun of because I can't pronounce th- sounds properly (sort of like a lisp). I tried to boost my confidence but dying my hair bright colours (so I'd stand out)and it worked a little bit, but I still rarely talk around people I'm not familiar with. The more people I familiarise myself with the better I get at talking so if I could offer any advice it would be to do something outrageous to boost your confidence, or familiarise yourself with lots of people. Hope I helped a little ^_~

When i was younger i struggled talking in front of large crowds (still do to a extent ,but im better at it ...i hope) I found talking to myself in rhe mirror (bizzare sounding ) helped as i could see my facial expresshions when i said things and could correct them when i felt they came across wrong also it helped me slow my speach down which helped me alot Hope this helps you alittle
