Any Ideas? Jul 26 2013, 04:20 PM
Uh… hi well I've been struggling with a cutting addiction since I was 13 and well… I'm a little embarrassed by the scars. I always feel like everyone is staring at them whenever I show a little skin so I don't go out in public wearing short sleeves much. Since its getting pretty warm and it doesn't seem like it's cooling down any time soon, I can't keep going out in long sleeves and hoodies. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do about the scars to make them a little less visible? Thanks to anyone who can help! :) xx

well they might dissaper. but here is some tips um well for me i use a liquid foundation to cover them up and then put powdered foundation over it. another one is they say almond oil helps remove scars and if tht doesnt work then use some lotion and mosturise them so there not as revealing.

i found bio oil helps to a extent and you can always ask your dr to recommend you scar cover up charities that show you what to use and where to get the products as for clothing in hot weather for visible ones i wear bracelets or gloves ( of varying length and styles) this not only covers but can add a new element to outfits ect also patterned lace is good at concealing scars as eyes are drawn to the patterns instead hope this helps and good luck in recovery =) i'm always here to talk or listen to you if you ever need any help =)

Hmm… the thought never occurred to me that I could use makeup aha. Thanks for that tip! I'll definitely try it out. I've been trying bio oil for the past 6 months, it hasn't really helped much I don't think, but thanks for the other tips Kate, I really appreciate it :) I'll try getting more bracelets seeming as I had to chuck a lot out because wearing them made my parents think I'm still doing it :/
