If there's a bright side to this suffering, can you help me see? It's getting harder to believe. You always said this would not last long, but it's gone on and on and on and I just can't make it stop. The Bright Side of Suffering, by Scary Kids Scaring Kids

Appearances and Make-Up Dec 27 2013, 07:05 AM
The only make-up I wear is eyeliner (only blue and black) and I like wearing it for confidence and I feel it makes me look better but recently I've noticed that my skin isn't that great. I'm not covered with spot or anything but I'm really pale (by choice) and I get heat marks and occasional breakouts which show up really easily on my skin. I thought about wearing foundation but it seems like a hassle and might make my skin worse. I've also got oily skin which is a good thing from an ageing aspect but I'm not sure about what make-up would do to it. So has anybody got any make-up recommendations or facial cleanser, scrubs, home remedies that would smooth out my skin? Any feedback is much appreciated :3

I suffered from acne for many years and still have the odd outbreak and like you i'm pale by choice. Have you tried a product called Witch. They are natural products containing something witch hazel that acts as a natural cleanser :) They are suitable for sensitive skin too however like all cleansers stings a little when applied . As for keeping skin clear i wash mine with warm water in the morning before applying any makeup and then if i've worn make up all day i wipe it off at the first available chance and re wash my face so the pores can breathe :) Personally i tend to avoid concealers and just go straight for a matt, non oil based foundation I currently use No 7 Naturals collection in the lightest tone: Calico And i rarely have to mix it with white foundation till summer. No 7 foundations are good ad they allow the Skin to breath but also give a good non patchy look. Also as odd as it sounds metanium ( a nappy rash ointment) works really well at reducing redness and spot outbreaks although a yellow cream(can stain whites so use sparingly and wash off before applying makeup) is great for sensitive skin and contains no harsh chemicals :) Hopes this helps you

I find sometimes make-up just makes my skin worse! So when I'm breaking out really bad (usually around that time of the month you know...) I try not to wear any make up and if I do it try not to put it on heavily and wash my face again as soon as I get home. I use a cream cleanser or make up wipe to remove my makeup first then I use a cleanser from lush called dark angels(just to make sure I have everything off) and a gel called propolis gel(it's literally been my saviour can't say enough good things about it!) bay. Brand called SBC and my gran got in on QVC for me years ago when my skin was really bad! And if I get a really bad spot I use an antiseptic cream like savlon or a nappy rash cream.. :P exfoliating your face is also very important and sometimes it's nice to use a face mask (I got mine both really cheap in boots) I'd probably exfoliate twice a week and use the facemask whenever I need a treat :P I think keeping your skin healthy is all about using products and makeup suitable to your skin type too :P

luckily I never had to deal with breakouts a lot but I have really pale skin to and I find its hard to find foundation as light as my skin expecally in the winter. i like to use both liquid and powder foundation because i found liquid alone makes my skin look oily and powder alone makes it look dry some liquids are more oily than others u kinda gotta try different things but if ur skin gets oily easily u might be able to just use powder, it will help cover up redness and make ur skin less oily. i hope this helps!

anything with tea tree oil in it will help and a diy scrub with sugar and a lil lemon is amazing it feels really good and plus the lemon is antibacterial and smells gorgeous :) you could also try a bb cream which wouldnt be as heavy as a foundation :)
