How do you forget the only person you have ever loved? It's a long complicated story I really don't want to get into in such a public forum. I tried moving on and was in a relationship for well over a year, but I always thought of her and still do even after three years separation. A few months ago she started following me on everything and last time I checked she had blocked me again. Today my dad pulled a box of her things out of the attic and I am taking them back to uni with me tomorrow. I just need to forget and not by just getting rid of the material possessions. I'm back to the way things were a few years ago, if you didn't know lets just say things were bad. I really don't know what to do after all this time.

I think I know who this is about and as I have said before always here to chat. The truth is though somethings are incredibly hard to forget.. In this case all I can think of if I was in your situation is finding someone you end up loving just as much or more to override the old memories. Of course I know it's gonna be hard to find such a person, but you gotta keep searching..

I'm guessing you do know Matt, the trouble is I don't think I will ever find someone else. I mean I have tried but that just ended after she used me. There is someone I like but I don't have the confidence to do anything any more and with my history I worry how she might react anyway. Never thought one person would be able to mess me up this bad.

She's away until the end of the month, I'm seeing the doctor on Thursday though to see if they can give me any more/better help.

it is hard i understand .. trouble is you will never really forget but you will learn to accept and move on in time .. then it will hurt alot less..Throw away all the gifts as well as anything related to her. Don't cheat yourself by saving some of the memories because that will stir nostalgia once more and you'll find yourself strolling down the path of dismay and depression again....Losing you is something she will regret when they realize your value. Be more confident and accept your mistakes. Always look for answers from yourself and try to distract yourself.. you are worth more chris xx steph :)

Thank you Steph :) Long time no speak. Unfortunately I'm always going to be nostalgic, she was my first real relationship and it got complicated; I am getting rid of the possessions all except one, and hopefully one day I can let go of that too. My doctor has doubled my meds and I had a counselling session today, she seems to have an idea of what to do to help but I still have my doubts.

I ended up messaging her, sort of... I sent a message on ask.fm and left it anonymous so yeah :/ Probably a huge mistake to be messaging her in the third person.

Steph is right in that time is going to be the best healer. I understand how you feel by losing the only person you ever loved - and especially with it being your first real relationship, and that feeling is emotionally draining, but you have to power through that feeling. Like Matt said, it is a good idea to find something you can love more than what you lost, because if you're stuck thinking about someone who you may not have a future with anymore, it can really bring you down.
