What are your coping mechanisms ? Feb 01 2014, 09:19 AM
Hey everyone! I really don't want this to be depressing in anyway. But basically I wanna know how you people cope through hard times, for me over the past four years or so it's always been music. 2013 was my worst year so far I'd say. I fell back into self harm, (I usually don't mention it to anyone but I have to be honest) Anyway music has got me through it, the lyrics in the songs I relate to.. Things are starting to look up for me now So what about you guys?

Yup, self harm. I do it too. Music distracts me a lot though.

I have a whole box full of distractions/things for coping. :) I'm gonna make a post about it when it's finished ;) but it is mainly just music stuff, manga, DVDs and stuff like that that make me calm :)

heres some of mine (some you can use whenever and some just at home) -MUSIC -reading -thought challenging (if you dont no what that is look it up,its very helpfull) -laying/cuddling with pet -looking at a picture of someone or something that keeps you calm and relaxed -taking a shower (if you self harm than really hot water helps with urges) -exercise,burns off stress and calories -deep breathing -thinking positive -dancing -going for a walk -WRITING -always always surround yourself with positive people when you are feeling depressed -talk/text a friend -call a help services thingy (if your in the USA 211 is a depression/suicide hotline) -watch a funny movie to get your mind off something I hope this helped in anyway at all!
