I'm avoiding people again Mar 12 2014, 09:30 AM
I used to avoid people all the time, mostly because I didn't have many people I could call friends. I'd literally book a practice room in music every break and lunch and go there to just be away from the other 1000 kids at my school. Then when I couldn't do that anymore I would sit in the classroom designated for people with issues being around other people. Well it went on until I got asked by one of my current friends if I wanted to hang around with them. I said yes just cos the guy I kinda liked at the time was with them. I thought that I was getting better at being around more than a few people. After a while I guess I felt almost comfortable being with them. We all had something in common be it our music taste, what we liked doing, problems with home etc. The past few months I've been avoiding my friends more and more. This week the only interaction I've had with anyone is a few messages and an hour skyping my boyfriend. I'm back to sitting in the corner of a classroom full of people who can't be around others for whatever reason. It's probably been confusing my friends and I've probably hurt a few peoples' feelings by not talking to them or even acknowledging their existence. I don't know how to tell them I just want to be alone for a while and I don't even know why I want to be alone. I just do. Has anyone else been through something like this?

Just tell them and if they are good friends they will respect that and still be there for you when you are ready.

They were asking me stuff after PE today, they're all in my PE class so couldn't avoid them. They seemed ok with it dunno though

I've had this before, but I'm far too scared of offending people so I always just continued to hang around with my friends even though I wanted to be alone. Although atm, as I've just started uni and still don't have any proper friends, I tend to find myself hanging around on my own anyway. Is there something that has triggered you feeling like this again? Or has it happened randomly?
