Stereotypes! Mar 25 2014, 02:22 AM
I really really hate being stereotyping people so I don't do it but people like stereotyping me. I'm not a scene kid... I'm not emo.... And I'm not gothic.. <3 I'm not gonna stick to one bloody subculture, screw that. People think being gothic is just wearing black anyway so how about you give your opinion on what gothic, scene and emo really is. DONT SAY GOTHIC IS BLACK OR ILL EAT YOUR FACE!!!!! <3

each is their own culture with different ideas and fads really Goth was first other subcultures pretty much barrow from Goth and scene kind of barrowed from emo. gothic is the type of music, fashion, spirituality, art, and ideas you connect with it goes all the way back to the 18 hundreds and it has a lot of history. same as emo but emo is newer the type of emo we think of now really didn't show up till the 2000's but its roots started in the 80's. scene was the product of experiments with different scenes music and fads like emo. they both display a passion of emotion were emos display is darker and more harsh like is origins of punk and post hard core scene is more bright and playful like its origins from rave and post hard core. but each is NOT about fashion or music that is just a small part. they are really about the emotion and ideas behind the culture. its something you feel but you can feel all three and should never have to limit your self to one or let some one label you. I prefer the term hard core over other labels because I feel it covers a wider range.

stereo types are just societies way of ordering things. within it's rather narrow mind everything has a collective name and everyone falls under one (in it's eye) Goth came from the the Arts and Architecture and was a British Subculture.Has many routes and famous subgenres such as Romantics , steam, pastel and cyber etc Emo short for emotional and originated out of EmoCore /emotional hardcore punk music with a fashion that later followed and became big around 2005 see this sites "what is emo" for more in depth Punk are considered the anarchists and the rebels who disliked the idea of conformity and single headed powers/authority. The fashion was based on intimidate and rebelling principles but also crossed with biker and the music on raw expression and power to the masses. ie the sex pistols, misfits etc Vivian Westwood is considered for made punk fashion mainstream. Scene is just wow , bash and very expressive and colourful. often considered the 'rip off ' subculture but eventually found it's own path. originated in the US and tends to be favoured among the younger teens although there are many older scene kings and queens out there you've also got other older subcultures such as the Mods, Rockers,Bikers and the likes still sitting along side the newer ones - Skaters, indie, hippy and hipster etc those underlined are the main 4 that seem to feature the most on this site .. but there is literally tonnes of sub genre crosses ie punk goth , emo/scene etc out there, thanks to transatlantic travel that now allows ideas to be shared globally along side the web. most subcultures stem from a music scene, that then (over time) lead to a fashion being formed etc where as others came from a single idea /ideology led to a gathering of like minds and grew from there... In essence a subculture is just a group or groups of people who are like minded or share similar tastes/ideas and get on well with each other (most of the time ) and as such tend to form little communities (or not so little) to share and exchange things with others. Like most things in life i'm NOT saying any subculture is immune to extremists and often you will find it's these kinda people who attract the wrong kinda media attention and end up branding certain cultures in a bad light despite what the real truth shows... sadly thats modern society for you basically as Olivia said it's about finding who you are and where you belong and being comfortable with it. screw what others think of you and the things you do. we are individuals and should be proud of that fact! :)

Why Would You Want To Be Normal? (: Just Be Happy Being Whoever You Want To Be, Even If Society Tells You It's "Abnormal" Or "Wrong", Don't Make Big Deal About Haters And Just ignore Them, Because There Looking For Reactions, So They Have More Things To Work With When Creating And Argument Against You Of Any Kind... c: Also Be Careful With Hypocrisy, If You Don't Want To Be Labeled Be Careful Not To Label Yourself, Ever (E.G Changing Your Mind And Calling Yourself Emo,Goth,Scene, etc) .Because Haters Will Take Note Of Any Contradictions. Anyway Be Happy With Yourself And Never Stop Being Who You Want To Be :P P.S None Of This Is Meant To Offend Anyone Its Just A Friendly Note! :D x

I don't believe in labels and stereotypes. As said above, you do what you want and be what you want and never give a damn what other people think or say about it. Subcultures, as said above, are groups of like-minded people or people who share tastes/ideas and get on well with each other most of the time. They tend to form communities to share their ideas with the rest of the world. Life isn't about what subculture you fit into it's about finding yourself and where you belong. Don't try to fit into a group you don't truly identify with.

"I don't believe in labels and stereotypes" - well they exist and aren't going anywhere. I just live with them and it doesn't bother me..

heres my idea's of each. Goth - fans of the various Post-punk bands that played Gothic rock/Darkwave music in the 80s, they didn't necessarily have a certain dress sense at the time as all post-punk bands looked pretty interesting. Emo - Fans of the 80s Hardcore punk bands originating from the D.C. area starting with rites of spring, this expanded to various styles of music, Screamo, Emoviolence, Emocore, and if you count it Post-Emo indie rock. most of them looked pretty similar to all the other Punks and Hardcore bands/fans at the time, an example of an exception would be Orchid. Scene - more a fashion sense then anything else, scene for many years didn't have a Particular "Genre" to get behind, i'd say if it had any bands they'd be Black Veil Brides, and falling in reverse, and maybe a few of the various Melodic Metalcore/Deathcore bands like Asking alexandria. the Generic "Scene look" looks basically the same as a couple Metal/Grunge fans/bands of the 80s-90s and early 2000s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTb9HFabDrI">, the look also takes some influence but not alot from the emo subculture. Punk(only adding it because someone else did) - Punks like most other "Subcultures" began in the late 60s with Garage rock bands playing a new style now known as "Proto-punk" and expanded into various genres e.g. Hardcore punk, Punk rock, Anarcho punk, crust-punk etc. alot of punks consider the idea of "Punk" is to be an individual and to "think for yourself", punks don't necessarily have a "Certain look" just look at the dead kennedies..

I take it as a complement when ever i am labeled or stereotyped. Someone actually has nothing better to do think you and observe your actions.
