Socially Awkward Jun 03 2014, 11:06 PM
So yes, I admit, I'm really socially awkward. There are so many people on here that are so nice and look like they'd be nice to talk to! :) and a lot of them I'd love to become friends with!... but I just don't know how to begin. Is it like some kind of art? Cause I'm not very artistic xD Point is, I kinda need help introducing myself more and starting conversations, cause I'm kinda bad at that ._. Advice from anyone? Please?

When you say advice, do you mean for online communities like soemo or for the people who live around where you stay in the real world?

Both really, but whichever one you personally may have better experience with. Cause I don't in either.

Just be yourself and say whats on your mind, and if things start getting akward just change the subject or just say something really random! Hope I helped. :)

Well since I don't know what your community is like, I guess you can start here. Some conversations with people through threads only then after you think you've built up a relationship. Start private messaging that person on the site with topics relating to their "about me" like comment on the music they like and etc. Eventually after some time when you get to know him/her better I guess you can try to kik with them to keep closer contact.

if your looking for local members near you try the browse members tab :) try sending a simple PM saying "hi how are you ? " etc is good way to start a conversation off along with any other small talk. Maybe read their profile and see if they have similar interests or music tastes, if so start a conversation on that as there is less of a chance for awkward silences occurring as you both like the same thing. As for dealing with awkward silences , i tend to say something totally random or just send a smiley face, to try and break the tension :) as above posts have said, just be yourself and don't worry what people think, many users here are really friendly and welcoming so you have nothing to panic about good luck! :)

Thank you everyone! I've never really been the best but I'm willing to try. I guess I'll know how it turns out in the end. So again, thank you for the help that may change my life dramatically. It means a lot that you all chose to comment on this willingly.
