You hear them yelling The words sink in Your nothing better Than trash within Your parents are yelling, Your aunts make fun, Your uncles are laughing, Your cousins are done Your hair is too weird, Your clothing is too dark, Your emotions are faded, You have no heart "Be happy!" They say "Act better!" They sneer They told you to be yourself, Of course now it's weird They want you to smile They want you to be them They want you to act normal They want you to end You might cry in your room, Or maybe even cut, You might do nothing at all, As long as your door is shut The family disappointment, Oh wait, that's you At least you agree That everything they say is true Your hair is too weird, Your clothing is too dark, They won't even ask "How is your heart?" If I were to tell them, If I were to say, They'd send me to therapy Again, on this day I fixed myself up, But they broke me back down I'm the family disappointment And I'm ready to drown
