Need help with exercise and workouts.. Jul 09 2014, 10:16 PM
So. I've decided that to make myself happier. I want to be more fit. and i started exercising today. and eating right a couple months back. as of now i'm counting calories and all. But I don't know exactly where to start with workouts.. Exercises i have more under control land all. I'm starting jogging soon. But any home workouts? How many reps? for each one? etc. Since i'm already doing jogging. You can probably guess I'm looking for home workouts that workout the upper body. I want to have abes and some mucle by next summer if possible. Please help me! hah thanks guys:)

You should try rope jump its work fast on whole body and your abs

^ agreed jump ropes are great cardio workouts! Alongside your cardio of jogging etc Also try doing crunches,curls and planks. there are loads of variations on them , but those 3 exercises are the main 3 used in gyms to tackle abs/abs toning for both guys and girls. Worth a quick google to see which ones you like the look of and want to try :) Most people would do 3 sets of each exercise with 20 -45 reps in each and gradually increase the number of reps say to 100 over afew days/weeks depending on core strength/stamina and personal preferences. (except for plank which is normally 3 sets being held for 15 seconds upto 5 minutes depending on the persons core strength) Adding some resistance training can help with muscle building and increase stamina levels. so a set of weights ie 1-5 kg etc kinda things can be incorporated into your routine ,just dont go over board on weight training and cause injury! once -twice a week should be enough but again it's personal preference Worth a google/look at fitness articles to see what people do for there abs/upper bodies and how much time they train etc so you can get some ideas of your own. The Net is also a good place for inspiration too as there are many ab and upper body workouts out there to choose from besides the more standard ones.. Don't forget to take days off training so your body can adjust to working out, build up the muscle/tone and repair itself. ie if you work out 5 days per week take at least 1-2 days off this will help prevent over working/excess stress on the body and should help prevent injuries related to that and stay well hydrated too. hope this is some help to you and best of luck :)

Wow. that was really helpful. Thank you so much kate! :) I'm writing out a routine later today. I'll add what you suggested in there with personal preference included. Thank you two alot. I'll also try out jump rope. Never was good at it but if it's that good a exercise than why not! hah

Theres way to much to discuss on that matter to just write out. Best thing is to just keep researching from numerous sources. As far as eating healthier, keep track of whats on certain foods and how you feel or react to them. The healthier you get, the more sensitive your body will be to crappy foods of ones your body just may not do well with. Workouts you want to change up too. If you do the same routine all the time then your body will stop benefiting. Generally change it up for one week out of a month. Theres really two maybe three types of workouts with weightlifting, size, strength or being lean (last is kinda diff) so you know, Your body will only grow evenly meaning you have to workout all muscles. Like you can't expect a bulky chest without building up your back.

I would say do more body resistance and free weight workouts then cardio, not saying cardio is bad but from what i know they work just as well, if not better and it also builds muscle so you tone up too :) What i do is just use google images, type in something like "upper body workout" and there's aload of workouts you can pick from :)
