Do you think it still exists in the same way as it was back in the mid 2000's ? Has it somewhat faded into the background and blurred with other subcultures, or been redefined much like the music scene and peoples slightly more open attitudes towards things such as piercings, strange hair styles/colours etc ?

I will keep this short - no to your first sentence and yes to all of the second sentence. It's still popular though. When the growth on this site slows down significantly I will let you know.

Emo, as both a culture and a music gene, is practically dead and definitely has change.

Interesting to see peoples perspectives on this :) although i agree with xXeMoRaCeRXx it's not like the mid 2000's as such any more...

I agree with hipsters taking over, everyone seems to have their own view of what emo is so it's hard to say, I would say its now blurred. Some have still never even heard of the term 'emo'

I agree completely and it makes me a little sad, because I grew up with the scene/emo culture being really in and my image of pretty molded to fit that trend. I know a lot of people in their 20's see me as being childish and "unrealistic" because I want to hold onto this culture as much as humanly possible. Friendproject.net for anyone who hasn't seen it yet is just like the original myspace (2006 version) and there are a few youtubes that still hold fast to the traditional tutorials and lyric/slideshows. Idk. I feel like I am CLINGING for life onto this culture which I have become so in love with and I just have to slowly watch it fade out.

Ive been into this for years... But all that matters is that you love the culture and you express your emotions and stay with it, if you think your the only one, your not i actually am the same exact way.
