What's your opinions on them... If you have been in one for a while I'd love a chat.

I was in one when I was 16 for 6/7 months, and another last year for 6 months. Not a long time at all really! I couldn't do it. So much pressure and effort, although it's special when you're together I suppose. It's why I'm not really dating anyone right now, there's no point when I'm moving next year - couldn't do long distance haha.

I can't say I've been in a long term relationship of any kind either long distance or close by, but I have of course seen others who have. First off like all relationships, theres no knowing if they will go the distance (quite literally) even if you live near one another you can grow apart just as distance and abscence can make the heart grow fonder. It really depends on the individuals involved. If you can accept you can't be around one another all the time but be there when you need one another and are independant people who love one anothers' company but don't need it constantly to function and get on with your own lives then theres a good chance a long distance relationship can work. A lot of trust and commitment is required but it can make the time with one another even more special. The problem usually arises if one person feels differently to the other about how much time you should be spending with one another and this can happen at any stage of the relationship. If one person suddenly decides they want to see more of someone and the other is willing to let things carry on as they are, this may make the relationship increasingly difficult to maintain. In the end most people do decide they want to be close to the one they want to be with, but in the age of social media this may not be right away and can be several years later, whether or not the relationship can last indefientely at a distance all depends on one anothers commitment to one another just as in any relationship. Its also worth noting that even in "close" relationships, a lot of people work all day so actually see very little of their partner, hence they will go on special dates to reaffirm their love and commitment and devote a bit of time to their relationship, just as again in close relationships partners may take a break away from one another for a bit of personal space, so even where people are living together they still value distance now and again to remind them of what they have when they do spend time together.

Depends if both make pretty much equal effort in the relationship. If not things can become meh. Some things are meant to be, some aren't.
