Role Models or Strange Fanatism? (Debate) Feb 21 2015, 10:59 PM
I make this thread with the sole purpose of hearing different opinions on something that recalled my attention, a situation commented by some Friends: A friend is trying to help his girlfriend, they are both black veil brides fans, seems she is undergoing some depression so he has been messaging the lead Singer from Black veil Brides asking him to help her, i quote this from the conversation heard: - I hope he can help save my girlfriend's life, i quoted Andy's words and she said she will stand up for herself when she hears Andy himself telling her that - So, im interested in knowing your opinion on the subject, would this be considered being inspired by a role model or going to the next far edge on depending on a public figure to inspire you to go on before the people close to you does because for them gives them a more meaningful Word perhaps? in my opinion i will go for the second one, i also seem unable to understand this particular behavior, although i appreciate both of those Friends a lot, but i also consider that one thing is an inspirational figure and another different is to consider that someone saving your life cause i think ultimately their own choices save themselves, i open debate to hear your opinions

I defiantly feel like it's depending too much on a public figure as well. He's said stuff about not hurting yourself and wanting people to stay strong, and I think it's kind of, for a lack of a better word, selfish to want to hear it from someone who many people would wish could say it. It would defiantly be awesome to hear him personally say something like that, but again, she can make the choice even if she feels depressed.

yes i entirely agree, like you said she can make the better choice herself, i don't find it bad that they admire public figures but a bit off when comes to think of them as their only option for getting better, whilst im sure they might be wonderful people, they haven't really met them
