I, The Darkness, seep and slink everywhere. Watching from the shades and shadows I reside in where men do not dare. In cracks in the floorboards and in hollows. I have always been and always will be. Chasing light, consuming what is left behind, From the vacuum of space and depths of sea In the recesses of man’s hearts and minds. I am the Darkness, I am bipolar, I’m sempiternal, always, eternal. Fear of the unknown, a terrible thing, A constant whisper that your heart will sing. But I am familiar to you all Even if you stumble, if you do fall I’ll be there in silence, to give you peace Of mind, to shield you from the harsh light That stings your eyes, give your vision release I’m after the bright, soothing, dead of night. Blinded or sighted, I will still be there Despised by many and scorned by the ‘fair’. I am the Darkness, I am known for Death. In coffins and crypts, corners and closets. I can be cruel, and take away breath Or accompany those in sobbing fits. For I spawn the demons and all the fears, The voices inside, everyone hears. I surround when you awake to shakes Born out of nightmares that inspire quakes I am in pits and every abyss But sometimes I, Darkness, can be pure bliss. Thank you for reading, this was something I wrote in a mock exam.
