Eh :/ I guess so in away. But it gets to a point where the difference in intelligence would get to me. Ya know, like Howard and Penny on The Big Bang Theory 😅 I think that not being able to understand a word they say would annoy me

Yessssssss, I couldn't date someone who I couldn't debate with y'know? It's totally attractive. There's different types of intelligence though!

^ i agree with you SophMae :) As i also enjoy a good debate/challenge every now and again (plus i think doing those two things, can help maintain a healthy relationship...) but discussing the question: very much so. There is no point in me dating/being with someone who i can't converse/connect with on a intellectual level! Also it's just nice to be with someone who "clicks" with you anyway (and i feel alot of that is down too personality and intellect combined) However there is a limit to intelligence: In the past i've dated guys who were OTT bright (in the academic sense) and well.. i felt majorly out of my depth and somewhat lost in some conversations, which made things quite awkward and in most cases caused things to cease. So it's really a case of striking a workable balance, i think... There's nothing wrong with someone being less or more intelligent, just personally i prefer a balance to be alittle even, or a small amount of the latter. Also as the posts above state there are many different types of intelligence not just the stereotypical academic/nerdy/geeky types!! (see dictionary definition below) All of which have their pros/cons in my mind, but as an overall thing .. still an highly attractive quality Intelligence has been defined in many different ways such as in terms of one's capacity for logic, abstract thought, understanding, self-awareness, communication, learning, emotional knowledge, memory, planning, creativity and problem solving.

It really is, in my opinion. I can see why some people wouldn't like to have a very intelligent partner, or perhaps the opposite, since it can be hard to connect when you're on different levels, but I don't think it's important enough to make, or break, a relationship.

yes and no, it's impressive and you'll feel secure knowing they'll find a job quickly and help you learn things so long as you don't feel belittled or out of your depth in conversations because your life has not been as interesting or as fulfilled as theirs. knowledge is power

I dunnoooo, I don't like feeling stupid I.e my exes have all mainly been science/tech geeks and I'm more politics/social stuff so that never worked out :p but if they're willing to explain things patiently then hell yeeeeah

I think it is very important aspect for me since I am nerdy and geeky sort. However the most important aspect for me is humor. Though if i connected with someone that wasn't, maybe it won't matter never know till you try right. :)
