Normal = A differentiating social construction, conceived almost globally throughout societies and cultures within human kind. But basically it's a label used in society so it can organise itself, without which it's little mind can't function correctly.. basically there is no such thing as one "norm/ normal" (as per my definition above ^) - As what one person may see as their normal (ie wearing corsets out in public as part of an outfit) could be another persons idea of un- normal. "Normal" has also become a word heavy stigmatized to represent majority culture as a whole, but also within subcultures it could be said "norms" are created (though not necessarily true and often products of stigmatization and/or trait and interest grouping) that also reflect this collecting of majorities for example: it is normal for goths to have black/dark colored hair. This is a stereotyped norm within the gothic cultures (though not always the truth/case)... ^ but enough waffle off me and i totally don't study Sociology at A2 ;) but to me, the word is just an empty label and i don't let what others coin it effect me. Normal or not, i am who i am and that's all i ever want to be :)
