Online and LDR relationships Oct 16 2016, 11:02 PM
I was wondering how many people have had an online relationship/ long distance relationships and how long it lasted? also, what had they learned from it? personally had 2 online relationships and 1 serious ldr. the ldr lasted for a year. the online relationship lasted for 2-3 months. I learned that everything can be worked out just by simple communication in the end.

Ldr don't work in lustful world, you always need a fresh air outside with a company. Plus human were created for desire, not to live in virtual internet love box I've checked the success ratio of ldr. Very poor

I had one long distance boyfriend, but, I didn't consider it long distance, I was in Illinois and he was in New York (I've travelled much farther so it's not a lot to me, five hour drive). But, it lasted for about six months and he was abusive for about four of those months. Why was he doing it? Because, based on the belief that humans absolutely need contact to maintain a healthy relationship, he believed that men need sex to function properly, if I didn't sexually gratify him then he'd manipulate me somehow and threaten to leave me because he knew about my abandonment issues. I'm pretty sure he cheated while with me, but, I guess it doesn't matter now. Now, I'm sorta unofficially with someone who lives in Asia, and it's currently going pretty great. We've agreed on traveling countries together once I'm out of college and he isn't physically demanding or manipulative, actually, if I had to say, I think that if we were to put "good" or "bad" labels on us, I'd be "bad" and he'd be "good" XD He's been my best friend for longer, but, the relationship status I have with him has been going for about three or four months. Communication for us is very important, mostly because I can't read him very well and need to be sure I'm not doing stuff he doesn't like, but, he can read me well enough to gauge most of my emotions and thoughts. I'm enjoying the relationship, a physical one sounds nice too, but, to me the physical contact isn't as important as it is to others, the mutual consent, communication, respect, and love are.

What I learned from it...it would probably be to not be with someone who was so desperate for human interaction and to stand up for myself more.

^@Hellfire_Angel thank you for sharing your story. Was curious if you have met the guy irl (the one living in Asia) and how did you guys meet. For me, the serious ldr. We became friends through a singing app and we have facetimed and called each othera lot before. In a few months, there's a big possibility we might meet face to face irl.

^No problem, we haven't been able to visit each other irl yet, but, within next year we'll visit, mostly because my parents want to see him and judge his character, ha. And we met online when I had posted a roleplay, I often role-played because I was super anxious with other people and could only speak if I was in character. We played together for quite some time Which reminds me that I need to reply! I forgot! and we've continued the story for nearly half a year now, but, as time went on I got comfortable speaking to him out of character and now he's one of the only people I don't get tired of speaking to. We've held calls too, although with one call my little sister came in and started to fight for control of my device so that she could turn on the camera and make him see that I looked like a mess XD

Eh, there was one I started with my ex around 2011-2012, and we've been On and off ever since until a few months ago when we decided to break it off for good. I really don't mind, and while I might hold some hard feelings over the course of the relationship, in the end I wish her nothing but the best.
