what are the youth subcultures of today? Aug 27 2017, 01:44 PM
what are the youth subcultures of today except emo? I read an interesting quote today from the editor and chief photographer of FRUiTS Magazine (Shoichi Aoki). who said on the demise of the aforementioned magazine "there are no more cool kids left to photograph." I find the idea of todays youth being subcultureless, very sad indeed. p.s. I was emo from the start

At first I must ask you why you said "except"? Because I see no except there, all subcultures are the same, they are bounded nowadays on sterotyps. If you don't look like this or this, like haircut, color and so, you are not part of the subcultur. Or look at some pictures, there are mostly look the same and do the same pose, like the middle finger and so on. At least it is sad because it is true.

what you are describing is a group op people, that have nothing in common, values or tastewise. if that is the case then all of society is part one big subculture. or to put it another way no subcultures at all. thank you for for giving me a sensible answer. i would very much like to hear you expand on your ideas.

It's quiet easy, if you look at all subcultures there is everytime a few things like a must have. Like the black hair by emos for example, that is also a stereotyp in this typ of group. So if you look at each typ of group/subculture you find some stereotypical things for exactly that group/subculture. It's all different, but IN this group it is mostly the same. Hope that make it more clear.

you said no "on sterotyps" now you say sterotyps. and the question still remains what are the style tribes of today?

The "no" was meant on the "except". So I still say the same as before. And the stlye tribes in EACH subculture are bound on their stereotyps, they have. I also told you an example for this before.
