HOW I BECAME A MODEL
I was 13 when I went to my first scouting agency, named Laurence Models. I was asked on the street if I wanted to build up a portfolio and I was flattered so I begged my mum. We drove all the way up to the coast and I did a basic head and body shot as well as measurements and being weighed which was intimidating but worth it, because three days later I was called saying I got in!
I went to a modelling boot camp the next tuesday in Surfers Paradise to learn how to catwalk, model for shots, get a portfolio and stuff.. It was really cool but the girls who were between 12-15 were extremely bitchy. This wasnt a promotion nor an alternative modelling agency, it was more glamorous. After two months I had a decent portfolio and heaps of contacts but I had to concentrate on school so I left Laurence.
During school I established my own style and evenyually made friends with a bunch of cool scene girls who encouraged me to make a Myspace, so I did, and I immediately got into site modelling for a page called WeHeartSceneGirls. My cousin Brooklyn was also a sitemodel on one of the biggest sites on Myspace named Deranged Modelling so she got me onto that. Two years past and I had over 2.5 million hits on my fan page!
I continued site modeling and also started modelling for a real life alternative scouting agency. I was 16 when I got an email from my agent saying I had scored a shoot in America for Drop Dead! Clothing and I was so stoked! I met the whole band including their manager who was super nice and I modelled some of the clothes. Finally I had one really big recommendation and some awesome content in my portfolio and thats when all the big shoots rolled in!
I now model for many clothing stores like Dangerfield, Everland Clothing, DollsKill and heaps more. I have been to America and London because Of my career and im super lucky and thankful!
I think modelling is really fun but its hard to get into because the agents are so tough on height and weight, and if you get regected (I ave been many times) it really gets to you.. But if you work hard enough, speak up, annoy the fuck put of your agents and clients to get you jobs, and work hard you will get anything! The alternative industry is really fun, ive met loads of great people!
