From your pics, your hair looks pretty rockin already, but you could probably grow it a little longer and start working on some side bangs. Start looking around google or other sites where you might find some good scene/emo hair cuts.. Here's one of my favorites:

Go to a stylist that really knows what they're doing and show them the pictures. They'll take care of most of the hard work.
Make sure when you get it cut it's cut to emphasize texture. "Choppy" is a good adjective to use for your stylist. (Well, I don't know if every stylist will recognize that word.. mine did,)
Make sure your hair is dry before you start straightening or styling it. Mine typically does better if I let it air dry rather than blow dry it, though I usually use a blow dryer to save time. Of course you'll need a hair straightener, which I'm sure you already have. Very important is the hair products. A good shampoo and conditioner of course, some kind of hair wax and hair spray. You may want to see what your stylist suggests. Good hair products make good hair. I also use a shine spray for to give my hair a little shimmer. (Though that's not necessary,)
